Benefits of the project

SkyREM, LLC, through its affiliate Sky Power, LLC constructed the Medline solar project at the Meriden, CT manufacturing facility which Sky owns, in order to produce the majority of the power consumed by this energy intensive and critical medical manufacturing facility which Medline operates. Medline is the largest privately held manufacturer of medical and surgical supplies.

The project was constructed during the coronavirus pandemic, ahead of schedule with no disruption to this major medical facility.

SkyREM is one of the few real estate owners with a commitment to sustainability, that has actually actively invested large amounts of capital in developing and constructing state of the solar and renewable energy projects for its customers.

The 1.32 megawatt project which comprises 3,828 modules atop the the Medline manufacturing facility in Meriden, CT, which is owned by SKYrem will offset more than half of the facility’s annual electricity usage. The SKYrem/Medline system is one of the largest commercial projects in the Eversource utility system. The project produces approximately 1,578,430 kWh of clean and renewable electricity annually, and will also substantially lower Medline’s utility cost at our property.

SkyREM/Sky Power — commitment to sustainability: converting business to “sustainable energy hubs” by partnering with our tenants

SkyREM has already completed, or is in the process of planning or constructing at the majority of it’s properties where it is feasible, including all of its New Jersey properties, and the majority of it’s Connecticut properties. In partnering with SkyREM/Sky Power, Medline is able to consume energy we produce for their manufacturing needs with the environmental benefits of taking nearly 250 automobiles off the road or saving over 130,000 gallons of gas annually. The use of Sky Power’s solar power by Medline will result in the avoidance of 1157 metric tons of carbon dioxide- the reduction of their carbon emissions is equivalent to the planting of about 30,000 trees annually.

Value added provided by State of the art top components

SKYrem/ Sky Power chose the best, state of the art panels, racking and inverters to extract the maximum efficiency from the solar systems it installed. SolarEdge was chosen to supply the power inverters for all of its systems for several reasons. State of the art technology which is particularly effective in producing substantially more electricity in the cloudy northeast and other areas due to its superior design and individual panel data and control. Our design, construction and use of superior hardware results in a safer system with rapid shutdown capability- full or partial, while maintains an extremely reliable sate of the art system with a very long useful life.

Solar is a clean and renewable source of energy that allows us to contribute to the health of the Meriden, CT area, while driving cost savings for Medline and it’s customers. We offer our customers clean energy programs to greatly reduce their carbon footprint while lowering their overall utility cost at our properties.
