SkyPower Successfully Completes A Substantial Project With Bob’s Stores
Alex Dembitzer — founder of SkyREM, LLC and Sky Power, LLC, is pleased to announce the completion of our latest substantial renewable energy project, EMS/ Bob’s Headquarters in Meriden, CT. Solar is a clean and renewable source of energy that allows us to contribute to the health of the Meriden, (CT) area while driving cost savings for EMS/ Bob’s/ and its customers. We offer our customers clean energy programs to greatly reduce their carbon footprint while lowering their overall utility cost at our properties.
Sky Power, LLC, is one of our affiliates here at SkyREM, LLC. One of our passions is making a positive environmental impact, and therefore, for every property in our large portfolio, we undertake a careful analysis in order to maximize the potential of installing renewable energy sources that will power the new structure.
That brings us to one of our newest projects for the headquarters of EMS/Bobs Stores, a wholly owned division of Sports Direct. The largest UK Sports retailer, Sports Direct, has over 800 stores across the UK, continental Europe, and Asia. They operate through three strategic business segments, which include Sports Retail, Brands, and Premium Lifestyle.
The objective of this project was to reduce the client’s carbon footprint while at the same time saving costs on energy. The main challenge of this project was that the existing electrical connection in the building was not adequate for such a large solar system, which supplies nearly all of the tenant’s electric consumption. However, Sky Power was able to overcome this by installing a brand new five sectional “switchgear”, in order to greatly increase the electrical capacity at the site.
This project resulted in a variety of positive impacts on the business. Firstly, installing solar panels increases the overall value of the real estate. Secondly, it also improves annual cash flow. And finally, the installation of solar panels results in a whopping annual carbon dioxide reduction of 1016 metric tons of coal per year!
“At Eastern Mountain Sports and Bob’s Stores, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint so that we may continue to provide name brand apparel and footwear for the family, outfitting outdoor enthusiasts and providing quality while also protecting the places where we live, work and play. The recent addition of solar panels to our Corporate Headquarters and Distribution Center in Meriden CT by Sky Power LLC will provide 75% of our annual electric needs, in addition to a reduction in our operating costs. We want to thank the Sky Power, LLC team for their hard work in completing this project and allowing EMS & Bob’s to take another huge step forward in our commitment to a cleaner environment, for today and for years to come.”
