The Quartermaster Science + Technology Park and WorldUpstart, LLC have come together to create an 8-week international accelerator program for life sciences and med tech companies. The program is set to prepare companies for market expansion in the United States and bring them to the vibrant ecosystem of Philadelphia.

In the Top 10 Life Sciences Markets

The Greater Philadelphia area is ranked among the top 10 life sciences markets in the United States and is home to world-class research institutions, breakthrough medical treatments and technology, and 15 major health systems. The area offers a hub for healthcare innovation and will undoubtedly benefit from this exciting partnership. “We are thrilled to be partnering with the Quartermaster Science + Technology Park to launch this accelerator program. This partnership brings together expertise in innovation and technology from around the globe,” said CEO of WorldUpstart, Karina Sotnick.

The hybrid program will allow participants to engage with a variety of resources from in-person events to virtual mentorship. The curriculum will include areas of product-market fit, fundraising, team development, and marketing strategy. This partnership will give participating companies access to unparalleled resources and support from leading industry professionals, while offering opportunities to network with experts, potential partners, and investors.

Sparks of Interest Across the Industry

As this announcement sparks interest across the industry, the anticipation for what this program will bring continues to grow. The Quartermaster Science + Technology Park and WorldUpstart, LLC have taken a bold step to further propel innovation in the life sciences and med tech industry, and we cannot wait to see the outcomes of this collaboration.

With the implementation of this collaborative initiative, bioscience and medical technology corporations from around the globe can team up with their American equivalents to grow and thrive in a flourishing community, generating a worldwide spotlight on the region. For any aspiring corporation venturing into a new market, challenges and opportunities abound. Historically, only one out of five enterprises achieve success in expanding into the U.S. However, WorldUpstart has yielded a remarkable triumph rate of 40%, allowing companies to surge ahead with a notable advantage.

International companies seeking rapid success and sustainable growth in the U.S. biomedical industry must possess superior strategy and execution, particularly if they lack familiarity with the market.

A Remarkable Initiative

The Quartermaster Science + Technology Park, a remarkable initiative transforming a sturdy former military base in south Philadelphia into a ground-breaking discovery hub for life science and medical technology firms, will host our accelerator program. This comprehensive program will cover all facets of business growth, including critical gating issues of FDA regulations (for both drugs and devices), legal considerations, operational protocols, U.S. healthcare market dynamics, and preparations for fundraising, partnering, and expansion within the United States. With space limited to 10–12 companies, our next cohort will launch in September 2023. Interested applicants must submit by July 15th to gain access to our state-of-the-art labs, private and shared office and discovery spaces, and various community event and meeting areas.

Situated merely 10 minutes away from the Philadelphia International Airport, 15 minutes from the heart of Philadelphia, and various medical centers, the Quartermaster proves to be an advantageous hub for international and local companies who wish to work with stakeholders in the tri-state region.
